Classification and Models of H3C Active Optical Cables
Knowledge Base + 2024.01.27

Active Optical Cables (AOC) work by utilizing external energy during communication, converting electrical signals into optical signals, or vice versa. The optical modules at both ends of the optical cable provide optical-electric conversion and optical transmission functions.

Common classifications of H3C AOC active optical cables include: 100G QSFP28 Cable, 40G QSFP+ Cable, 25G SFP28 Cable, 10G SFP+ Cable, etc. Below, Walsun will provide detailed introductions to commonly used H3C AOC active optical cable models:

QSFP28 to 4xSFP28 AOC

The groundbreaking fiber optic cable from QSFP28 to 4x25G SFP28 provides IT professionals with a cost-effective solution for merging 100G QSFP28 and 25G SFP28 interconnect solutions, enabling host adapters, switches, and servers. Active optical cables, with the advantages of long transmission distance, fast transmission rate, and easy use, are becoming more widely used in high-density data centers. Walsun provides stable performance and high-quality products, with customizable lengths.

QSFP+ to 4xSFP+ AOC

The QSFP+ to 4xSFP+ high-speed active optical cable product has one end with a 40Gbps QSFP+ interface and the other end with four 10Gbps SFP+ interfaces. They are connected via a 12-core MPO high-density optical cable. According to the customer's requirements for the length of the cables at both ends, a splitter is added in the middle of the MPO cable to split one 40G optical signal into four 10G signals. One end of the cable uses a 40G QSFP connector, complying with the SFF-8436 requirement, while the other end uses four 10G SFP+ connectors, complying with the SFF-8432 requirement. It is the most economical and simple solution for port conversion. The transmission length ranges from 1 to 100 meters, and the lengths of the cables at both ends of the splitter can be freely chosen.
